Happy World Doula Week!

This week is a special one for doulas and the families they serve! From March 22nd to 28th we're celebrating World Doula Week!

I have been a doula for two years now and have attended births of all kinds. Home, hospital, first time mothers, young mothers, mothers with disabilities, unexpected breech, Caesarean, quick, long, fast, slow. Births with midwives, OBs, family doctors, nurses, caring family members. Births in Peterborough & Whitby. Each completely different. Each absolutely unique.

But despite being so individualized, they are shared some pretty amazing characteristics:

Strength. Empowerment. Love. Beauty.

I learn so much with each birth I attend and I still shed a few tears each time a little one is welcomed into this world. Goosebumps. Breathtaking.

I'm honoured to be a doula. Thank you so much to all of the families who have welcomed me into such a special time in their lives.

In my third year as a labour doula I'm looking forward to attending the births of two second time clients, my first twin birth and more! So much love!
